Kurt Suzuki, who announced his retirement at the end of last season, is returning to the baseball world. He joins as a front, not a player.스포츠토토
The Los Angeles Angels said on the 6th (Korean time), “Suzuki is currently with the team at the spring camp site. He was newly hired as a special assistant to the general manager.”
A Japanese-American, Suzuki was a veteran catcher who played 16 seasons in the major leagues. He joined the Oakland Athletics in 2007 before joining the Washington Nationals, Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves and Angels.
He recorded a career batting average of 0.255, 143 homers, 730 RBIs, 594 runs, and an OPS of 0.702. He was also selected as an All-Star in 2014, and won the championship in Washington in 2019. Last year, he finished with a batting average of .180, 4 homers and 15 RBIs, his final season.
Although Suzuki left the field not long ago, he immediately returned to baseball and continued his new career.
At the time of his retirement, he said he was interested in ‘where I could help’ within the Angels club and wanted to be with him. On this day, as he joined the front desk, that plan came to fruition.
