The Los Angeles Dodgers are acquiring a new shortstop via trade.
Mark Pinesand of MLB.com, the official website of the Major League Baseball, reported on July 27, “According to a source, the Dodgers are trading with the Cleveland Indians. They are sending right-hander Noah Syndergaard and acquiring shortstop Ahmed Rosario. Medical records are being reviewed.” The teams have yet to make an official announcement.
Rosario made his big league debut with the New York Mets in 2017 and has been with Cleveland since the 2021 season. This season, he is hitting .265 with three home runs, 40 RBIs, 51 runs scored, nine doubles, and a .675 OPS in 94 games.먹튀검증
Rosario, who is in his seventh year in the major leagues, will be eligible for free agency after this season. Last season, he signed a one-year, $7.8 million contract with Cleveland.
Syndergaard signed a one-year, $13 million deal with the Dodgers prior to this season. However, he struggled in 12 starts, going 1-4 with a 7.16 ERA, allowing 44 runs (44 earned) in 55 1/3 innings with 15 walks and 38 strikeouts. Most notably, he allowed 12 home runs.
Syndergaard tried to bounce back with the Dodgers, but blister issues kept him out of action for the entire month of June, and upon his return, he collapsed in one start, allowing six runs (six earned) in three innings.
The Dodgers bolstered their infield for the second straight day, acquiring Rosario in a trade for utility Kike Hernandez, who can play infield and outfield defense, the day before.
The Dodgers sent right-handers Nick Robertson and Justin Hagenman to Boston for Hernandez. He’ll also receive salary relief from Boston. Hernandez is back in a Dodgers uniform after three seasons.
Hernandez batted sixth and had a multi-hit game against the Toronto Blue Jays on April 27 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California. However, the team lost 1-8.
