Korean men’s handball, lost to North Macedonia, finished 28th in world championships

Korea, led by coach Hollando Freitas (Portugal), lost to North Macedonia 33-36 in the 27th place match on the 14th day of the tournament held in Płodsk, Poland on the 26th (hereafter Korean time). As a result, Korea ranked 28th in the event where 32 countries participated. South Korea ranked 31st in the 2021 World Championships, where university selections participated, and 22nd out of 24 participating countries in the 2019 competition, where a unified North-South team participated. Korea’s best ever record at the men’s handball world championship was 8th out of 24 countries in the 1997 tournament. 안전놀이터

Korea competed in Group D of the group stage. They faced Hungary (27-35) – Portugal (24-32) – Iceland (25-38) and recorded 3 losses. In Group 1 of the group stage of the 25th to 32nd place match (Presidents Cup), Uruguay (37-30) and Saudi Arabia (34-23) were beaten to create an atmosphere. However, it ended the tournament by losing to Chile (26-33) and North Macedonia.

Meanwhile, the semifinals of the tournament, co-hosted by Sweden and Poland, were narrowed down to European countries such as France-Sweden and Spain-Denmark. Among Asian countries, Bahrain ranked the highest at 16th. It ranked 22nd in Qatar, 24th in Iran, and 29th in Saudi Arabia.
