 Bae Ji-hwan Silence… ‘Cannon 2’ Pittsburgh runs 4 consecutive wins

While Pittsburgh Pirates multi-player Bae Ji-hwan (24) remained silent, the team sprinted for 4 consecutive wins with two home runs.

On the 21st (Korean time), Bae Ji-hwan started as the 8th hitter and second baseman against the Cincinnati Reds in the ‘2023 Major League Baseball’ held at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. He went hitless in three at-bats, slightly lowering his season batting average from 0.241 to 0.228.

The first at-bat was the bottom of the second inning. He came out as the leadoff hitter, and he hit hard, but withdrew to the front of left field. His second at-bat was after two outs in the bottom of the fourth. On the ball count of 2-2, he struck out on a swing and turned to dugout. In the third at-bat, at the end of the 7th inning, he struck out with a swing with 1 out and 1 base.

Bae Ji-hwan started as a second baseman메이저놀이터, but showed his versatility by changing his position to center fielder ahead of the last defense in the top of the ninth inning.

Pittsburgh went ahead with a big inning in the bottom of the first inning. With 2nd, 2nd and 3rd bases, Connor Joe attacked opponent starter Luke Weaver and scored a 3-0 first run with a 3-run homer that went over the middle fence. Afterwards, even Jack Swinsky fired a solo shot and ran away 4-0.

After that, Pittsburgh was pursued fiercely by Cincinnati. In the top of the 7th inning, Jason Vosler hit a timely 1 RBI from 2nd and 3rd base, making it 4-1. In the top of the 8th inning, he gave Jonathan India an RBI on third base, 4-2, and a sacrifice fly to Spencer Steer at Musa, 2nd and 3rd base, and caught up to 4-3.

In the top of the ninth inning, Pittsburgh’s closer David Werner stepped up and locked the opponent’s batting line to secure the team’s victory.

Starting pitcher Roanji Contoreras became the winning pitcher by pitching well with 5 runs, 2 walks, 8 strikeouts and 1 run in 6⅔ innings. On the other line, Joe and Swinsky led the team to victory with a home run gun.

Pittsburgh snapped a four-game winning streak with a 4-3 victory on the day. The season record is 13 wins and 7 losses.
